The Department takes significant leadership role in the following Extension activities:


  • Family Counselling Centre (Aided by Central Social Welfare Board)

The department plays key leadership role in running the family counselling centre since 1998. The Centre provides counselling services to the community and for the student community in schools and colleges. There are two qualified counsellors and two support staf


  • CHILDLINE Nodal organization (Aided by Ministry of Women and Child Development)

Nodal Organisation delivers support and professional leadership to CHILDLINE Thrissur since 2002, which is a 24 hour National Emergency Helpline Service for Children. There is a full time Coordinator for the Centre.  


  • Child Guidance Clinic (aided by CMC Nirmala Province)

This Centre provides professional counselling and support to children, parents and teachers in managing child-related issues since 2009. Professional counsellors, remedial educators and speech therapist etc are available in the Centre.


  • VCASS (Vimala Community Aid Sponsorship Programme)

This is an educational sponsorship programmes for 100 children in the neighbourhood of Vimala College. Apart from practical assistance the programme supports children for their social and personal development through mentoring, monthly meetings, parenting seminars etc. since 2012.
