About Vimala

The Congregation of Mother of Carmel (C.M.C.), founded in 1866 by Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias and the Carmelite Missionary Fr. Leopold Beccaro, is the first indigenous Congregation of Kerala.  Sad at the barrenness of Syro-Malabar Church of Kerala in nurturing saints, they founded our Congregation so that women also could have the same chance, as men to lead a consecrated life, love God and neighbor and serve with total commitment.

The Visionary of the Apostolate of Education Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias bequeathed to us the noble mission of dedicating ourselves for the uplift and christian formation of our fellowmen especially of women and children
