The Vimal College wrestling team emerged as champions in the Calicut University Intercollegiate Women's Wrestling Championship held at the Vimal College Indoor Stadium. The team secured an impressive total of 46 points, claiming nine gold medals and one bronze in the 10 weight categories. Seven athletes from the team—Saniya, Mridula, Hridhya Venu, Tinswi Sajeesh, Ranees, Jahan Farin, and Bhuvana—will represent the Calicut University at the Inter-University Championship. St. Mary’s College, Thrissur, achieved second place with 15 points, while the University Teaching Department secured third place with 8 points. A total of 50 women wrestlers from 17 colleges participated in the competition.
On 11th December 2024, the Department of Psychology at Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur, in association with Digital De-addiction Centre organized a seminar on "Digital addiction and its Management". The resource person of the seminar was Ms. Aneesha Krishnan, psychologist from the Digital De-addiction Centre, Thrissur City Police. The seminar shed light on the growing concerns of digital addiction. She defined digital addiction, its symptoms, and the criteria for diagnosis. She also discussed the management strategies for digital addiction, providing valuable insights for the attendees. The seminar was informative and engaging, raising awareness about the risks of excessive digital usage.
PG department of Home Science (Nutrition and Dietetics), NSS Unit 43, 120 and UGC centre of women’ s studies in collaboration with Hemaas clinic Thrissur, conducted a free medical camp at Vimala College Autonomous Thrissur on 9th December, 2024. It included free doctor consultations, free blood pressure & blood sugar test and also free medicines. Six doctors of three specialities were available.The camp was a great success as there were more than 300 participants. The highlight of the camp was the distribution of free diet plans for almost all lifestyle diseases and free diet consultation by second year M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics students. The coordinators of the program were Dr. Sr. Tency Varghese P, Dr. Thomas Ruby Mariamma, Dr. Smitha P S and Maria Johnson.

The Department of Computer Science organized an inter-department typing competition for students on December 9th as part of the Computer Literacy Day celebrations. The event focused on the students' typing speed, as they had to rapidly type text scrolling on a projector. A total of 27 students participated. The first prize was awarded to Mary Jeena from BSc Psychology, and the second prize was secured by Arundhathy V Prakashan from BSc Computer Science. The event was coordinated by faculty members Ms.SmithaC and Ms. Bini C.O.

The athletes of Vimala College have always been the golden feathers in the crown of the institution. Having nurtured five Olympians and numerous international and national players, the college witnessed its former sports stars reuniting for a memorable gathering. On November 30, 2024, around fifty alumni came together, along with former Physical Education faculty members Anny Varghese and Mary Antony, and the current faculty members, Agy Beth and Hemalatha. The participants revisited the campus, the indoor stadium, and the training grounds where they once honed their skills, reliving cherished memories. The reunion concluded with a formal session at 3 PM, leaving everyone with hearts full of nostalgia and camaraderie.

The Home Science Association was formally inaugurated on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, by esteemed guest Mrs. Aswathy Viswanathan, a renowned dietician from Hemaas Clinic, Thrissur. She delivered an engaging and informative talk on "Nutrition for Young Minds and Body". The students from UG and PG along with faculty members attended the event. In 1924, when Dr. Mary Poonen Lukose was nominated to the Travancore Legislative Council, making her India’s first female legislator, she was already a trailblazer with several firsts to her credit. A documentary Dr Mary Poonen Lukose: Charitram Piranna Kaikal, directed by Dr Praseetha K, research assistant at Sabha TV, will be screened in the Kerala Legislative Assembly to commemorate the centenary of the pioneering physician taking the oath as a legislator. It is also a peep into the life of a woman who chose to be captain of her destiny. Documentary will be screened by the Respected MLA of Kerala, U. Prathiba
