The Department of Chemistry, established in 1967, is one of the premier departments of the college. The Department’s strong record of achievements is based on its advances in chemical research, its success in incorporating these advances into class room teaching and research programmes, and its close relationship to society through extension activities. The department has grown into the status of a Post Graduate Department since 2012. The department has access to DST-FIST laboratory equipped with advanced instruments and equipments. Further UG and PG students of the department are exposed to research oriented projects in collaborations with various departments, institutions and Universities. Many national and international seminars/webinars, Day celebrations, Science popularization programs as well as competitions are conducted throughout the year to bring out scientific research awareness among students. Most of these activities are funded by University Grant Commission (UGC), Kerala State Council for Science and Technology (KSCSTE), etc. Currently, the Department is supported under the DBT-Star College Scheme as well as CURIE-PG Programme of DST.
