About the department

          The Department of Mathematics was established in 1967 with B.Sc. degree in Mathematics. The Department was recognised as PG Department in 2014. The department strives to maintain high standards of teaching in various areas of Mathematics. Several academic and co-curricular ventures are being conducted by the department. With the constant encouragement of our staff some of our students have attended Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme [MTTS] conducted by various academic institutions like Central University, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, University of  Calicut  and CMI .Some of our students have participated in inter collegiate competitions conducted by other colleges academically and won various prizes. These activities helped the students to go for higher studies in elite institutions like IIT, NIT, IISER, TISS etc. Also, they have won prizes in sports in International and National level and cultural competitions in Inter Zone, D-Zone and college level. Many of our students have done online courses in NPTEL, Udemy and coursera. The department involves UG and PG  students in Internship  Programme during summer vacation for mathematical skill development and practical knowledge. This year during the lockdown period due   to covid-19 many of our students have done online courses and attended Mathematical quiz and webinars conducted by academic institutions. They also excelled in online National Mathematics Exams. Students graduating   from the department have a variety of career options like academics, research, management, actuarial sciences, data analysis, social sciences, information technology, law, banking, and entrepreneurship. The Department has conducted various National/Regional Seminars in association with KMA and UGC for the intellectual growth of the student community, training programme for PG students to clear NET,   and special add on programme for UG students to clear competitive examinations. Now the department is supported under the DBT-Star College Scheme.
