History
History of Alumnae Association, Vimala College
Alumnae Association took its shape in St Mary’s College; it organized its Annual Reunion for the initial two years in the mother institution itself. Due to the Bifurcation of St Mary’s, the third graduate reception took place in the annals of the newly incepted college, Vimala College, on 10th Dec 1967. In the ensuing General Body Meeting the first item in the agenda was the consideration of the allegiance of the Alumnae Association in the view of the bifurcation of St Mary’s College. After considering all the pros and cons, the members finally took the decision that the Alumnae Association which is by its very nature a graduate institution has to be with the graduate college and the name of the Association has to be after the name of the college itself. So, the general body decided that the Alumnae Association to be named thereafter as the Alumnae Association of Vimala College, Thrissur -9.
In the General Body Meeting held on 5th January 1969, the members discussed the major item of the agenda as to how the association can serve its members and a Service Bureau of 7 members had been proposed. In 1969, college magazine, A Clarion Call was made by the association, informing each alumnae of the Service Bureau and asking them to provide help in helping its members.
Ever since its formation, the Alumnae Association has remained as a steadfast anchor to its members. The annual Reunion and General Body Meeting are held on the second Saturday of October in every year. Today, the Association has extended its service to all walks of life – social service, community development, women’s empowerment, knowledge enhancement etc.
The Alumnae Association is named RITORNO in the year 2018-19. This year has also witnessed a long-cherished dream of attaining the status of a registered body.
