Best Practices

The following are the list of Best Practices adopted by the department.

Industry Academia Interface Expert Lecture Series

  • Objective: To qeuip students professionally and make insudtry ready.
  • Context: To increase the placements and update with industry needs.                                                              
  • Practice: A person from industry/academics has been invited every month for a lecture based on current trends in industry and prepare students to work in an industry.
  • Outcomes: Increased number of placements, diversed opportunities for higher studies.

Digital Library

  • Objective: To make the Syllabi notes and other resources easily accessible round the clock at their fingertips, for the effective time management and to reduce the manual drudgery.
  • Context: To decrease the use of paper and to make children utilize the ICT resources of the  campus                                                                
  • Practice: The digital library amasses the digital contents of the syllabi covered and question banks, technical notes, and other referenced resources.
  • Outcomes: Drastic decrease in paper consumption, Effective usage of ICT enabled technology, Considerable decrease in e-waste, Greener environment

Group Id Creation

  • Objective: Create Group-id for the students of all classes to share notes, previous question papers etc. Also ​to remain connected with the students off the campus and to circulate the technical resources which are a part of the digital library.
  • Context: To facilitate students with upto date notes and other study materials. 
  • Practice: Group ids are created for the current batches with the department as a member of the group. The groupids are
  • Outcomes: Drastic decrease in paper consumption, Effective usage of ICT enabled technology, Considerable decrease in e-waste, well connected with the student even after they leave the college

News Letter

  • Objective: A newsletter was released with an objective of blending problem solving, critical thinking and the ability to create, convey and collaborate.
  • Context: As an initiative towards holistic development of students, release of newsletter was started by our department.
  • Practice: The fund management to content writing was handled by the students and they imbibed leadership skills out of it.
  • Outcomes: Helped the Students in developing their creative skills, improved collaborative skills of students, instilled confidence in the students.

Riti: Intercollegiate IT Fest

  • Objective:  To give an opportunity for the students of our department to get exposure in conducting different types of technical and non-technical events and interacting with students of other colleges.
  • Context: To conduct an inter-collegiate event were students from other colleges can participate and interact with our students. 
  • Practice: All the events are organized and conducted by students of our department, under the supervision of the event coordinator and department faculty.
  • Outcomes: An increased number of participants from other colleges, students very enthusiastically conduct the events and prepare well for the same, their technical skills gets developed technical skills and also they learn to organize and manage events responsibly.

Industrial Visits

  • Objective: To acquaint students with upcoming and booming technologies and IT company environment
  • Context: As the college is located in rural area, the students have a less privilege to apprehend and study the technologies.
  • Practice: With a view to introduce the culture and working environment of IT industry, students are taken for industrial visits.
  • Outcomes: Students get to know the environment of an IT company, talks given to them helped in developing their skills/ knowledge, also helped to bridge academy-industry gap and instilled an enthusiasm to become an IT professional.

Computer Literacy Day & Computer Literacy Drive

  • Objective: Computer Literacy Day is celebrated on December 2nd of every year by the department. Context: As the world around is rapidly moving towards digitalization, it has become a necessity to have basic computer literacy. The Computer Literacy Day is observed to promote the awareness about the computer and information technology.
  • Practice: The students of our department organize various quiz/ presentation competitions for students of other departments.
  • Outcomes: Active participation of students and faculty members from all departments, Students get trained to organise and manage events, they become creative by organizing technical events.

COMPUTER LITERACY DRIVE FOR FACULTY AND STUDENTS

  • Objective: To acquaint faculty and students with most popular day - today useful software. This is a done with a view to enhance the basic computer skills among the faculty and students.
  • Context: As the dependency on ICT based teaching and learning are going on at a faster pace , it is necessary to equip the faculty and students with the knowledge of softwares that are used commonly these days.
  • Practice: Faculty of our department take classes on developing basic computing skills and introduce the group to new and most commonly used softwares/ applications.
  • Outcomes: Helped the faculty and students in developing ICT skills and improving their job opportunities, helped the faculty and students to remain well connected to each other and various resources available on the web, helped the staff members in effectively using the internet especially for teaching learning process, instilled confidence and social responsibility in the student teachers.

Remedial Classes By External Resource

  • Objective: To bridge the gap of subsidiary subject Mathematics
  • Context: Students who does not have the required knowledge in Mathematics often find it difficult to catch up with other students.
  • Practice: A resource person (Alumnae) from outside was appointed by the department on short term basis. The classes were conducted on Thursday and Friday from 2:15 to 3:15 pm, Saturday 9 - 1 pm. The students are charged a nominal fee.
  • Outcomes: Increased academic performance, helped the under privileged students to a great extent by reducing the financial burden
