Day 4

Astronomy: An Observer’s View

The fourth session of ASTRO TALKS webinar series “Astronomy: An Observer’s View” was organized by the Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics, Vimala College (Autonomus) Thrissur on 20th March 2021, in association with the Vimala Astronomy club (VAC), under the financial assisiatnce from DBT Star College scheme, (Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India). It was a virtual meeting through google meet. The programme was coordinated by the faculty and students of the department of Physics. Miss Milinda Rose Gerge (UG Physics) compared the session. Dr Dhanya Johnson gave the welcome note and introduced the resource person. The webinar was lead by the resource person, Dr Susmitha Rani Antony. It was a 2 hour session. 57 students (UG) participated. It was an explanatory and informative session, where students interacted, asked questions and cleared their doubts. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Aparna Balachandran (UG Physics).

Day 3

Introduction to Extragalactic Astronomy

The third session of ASTRO TALKS webinar series “Introduction to Extragalactic Astronomy” was organized by Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics, Vimala College (Autonomus) Thrissur on 11th February 2021, in association with the Vimala Astronomy club (VAC), under the financial assisiatnce from DBT Star College scheme, (Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India). It was a virtual meeting through google meet. The programme was coordinated by the faculty and students of the department of Physics. Miss Niya Baby (UG Physics) compared the session. Dr Mini Krishna K gave the welcome note and introduced the resource person. The webinar was lead by the resource person, Dr Vivek M. It was a 2 hour session. 44 students (UG) participated. It was an explanatory and informative session, where students interacted, asked questions and cleared their doubts. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Mariya Lilly Thomas (UG Physics).

Day 2

Universe: A Telescopic View

30-01-2021, 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm

The second session of ASTRO TALKS webinar series was organized by Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics, Vimala College (Autonomus) Thrissur on 30th January 2021, in association with the Vimala Astronomy club (VAC), under the financial assisiatnce from DBT Star College scheme, (Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India). It was a virtual meeting through google meet. The session was a purely interactive question-answer session and was coordinated by the faculty and students of the department of Physics.

Miss Maneesha K Rajesh (UG Physics) compared the session. Dr Veena Gopalan E gave the welcome note and introduced the resource person. The webinar was lead by the resource person, Dr Blesson Mathew. It was a 2 hour session. 67 students (UG) participated. It was an interactive session, where the resource person gave an overview of various interesting topics in Astrophysics, opportunities in Astrophysics etc. Students interacted, asked questions and cleared their doubts. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Ashna Theresa (UG Physics).

Day 1

Stellar Evolution and Nucleosynthesis of Elements

The first session of ASTRO TALKS webinar series “Stellar Evolution and Nucleosynthesis of Elements” was organized by Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics, Vimala College (Autonomus) Thrissur on 29th January 2021, in association with the Vimala Astronomy club (VAC), under the financial assisiatnce from DBT Star College scheme, (Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India). It was a virtual meeting through google meet.
The programme was coordinated by the faculty and students of the department of Physics. Miss Milinda Rose George compared the session. The programme started with prayer song by Twinkle Treesa M J, followed by a welcome note and introduction of the resource person by Dr Regina Jose, after which Dr Malini K A, the head of the department gave the inaugural address. The webinar was lead by the resource person, Dr Drisya Karinkuzhi. It was a 2 hour session. 54 students (UG) participated. It was an explanatory and informative session, where students interacted, asked questions and cleared their doubts. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Atheena Kurian A.
