World Space Week Celebration 2021 was conducted by the Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics and Vimala Astronomy Club (VAC) in association with Breakthrough Science Society during 4-10 October 2021. In 2021, World Space Week was dedicated to the theme of “Women in Space”.

An interactive session on ‘Space physics’ led by Mr Santhosh P Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Vimala College.
Day 2 (05-10-2021)
Presentation by Twinkle Treesa MJ, Fabi Francis, Hridya S, Santhi Maria Martin and Swathy Satheeshan of second-year BSc students on the prospects of space inhabitation on planet mars.
Day 3 (06-10-2021)
Talk on Mangalyaan and space mission by P P Sajeev Kumar engineer at BPCL and member of State executive committee of breakthrough science society, Kerala chapter.
Day 4 (07-10-2021)

Department of Physics and Vimala Astronomy Club organised four-day webinar series called ASTRO TALKSon 29-01-2021, 30-01-2021, 11-02-2021 and 20-03-2021. It was a virtual meeting through google meet. More Details

Programme on Solar Eclipse
As part of Vimala Astronomy club (VAC), an event named PRAVEGA 19-20 has been conducted on 19th December 2019 at 10.30 am in the Lisieux Seminar Hall. The event was an initiative by the club to spread knowledge and awareness about the upcoming Annular Solar Eclipse on the 26th of December. The event was formally inaugurated by Dr Asha P Rao, head of the department of social work. A talk on scientific and other aspects of a solar eclipse was conducted by Mr Santhosh.P.Jose, assistant professor, department of Physics. It was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on Nobel prize winners of Physics 2019. Second-year students performed a tribute performance in honour of Space Scientist Kalpana Chawla, the first woman of Indian descent to go to space.

World Space Week Celebration
Department of Physics and Vimala Astronomy Club organized an interdepartmental quiz competition based on “Space Week” on 12/10/2018. Anupama Xavier and Rakhi Sankar of S5 Physics have secured 1st position. A flash mob was also arranged in front of the college as a part of WSW.
VAC Inauguration
Dr Sr Ritty J Nedumpara, former HOD of Physics inaugurated Vimala Astronomy Club, on 27/07/2018. The club consist of 105 members from various departments. Dr. Aneesh George is the club coordinator. It was followed by the Agni 2K18 celebration
