International Seminar NSNM 2K19

Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics and Post Graduate Department of Chemistry jointly organised a one day international seminar on Nano structures and Nanomaterials, on 8th august 2019. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Pulickal M Ajayan, Benjamin M and Mary Greenwood Anderson Professor in Engineering at Rice University. In his Inaugural address; he enunciated his views on technological advancements that facilitated life. He mentioned social changes prevailing in the society as a part of technological progress. He regarded Nanotechnology as ‘God’s own technology’ and remarked on several innovations in the field of Science.

Prof M R Anantharaman, UGC BSR Faculty Fellow, CUSAT, in his felicitation address, spoke about the disruptive technologies. He cited several examples from day to day life and made it clear that Nanotechnology is not only an enabler but also a disrupter. The Keynote session of the international seminar was presented by Prof. Pulickel M Ajayan. The topic was mainly on Nanoengineered Materials which is the major contributing technological field for the development of Interdisciplinary Research STEM (Science Technology  Engineering Mathematics) in USA. The first Technical session of the seminar was presented by Dr MR Anantharaman, UGC BSR Faculty Fellow, CUSAT. His topic was “size property relationships at Nano dimensions”. The second Technical session was presented by Dr. Bastien Seantier of University of South Brittany Lorient, France. The third Technical session was presented by Dr Mona Jani, Yachai Tech University, Ecuador. She talked about ” Surface Engineering And Bio Applications Of Nanodiamond” in her lecture, she talked about the methods of preparation of Nano diamonds, like detonation method, cvd process etc.
